Romance Adventures Blog Hop!!

Hello and welcome to the Romance Adventures Blog Hop-brought to you by a wonderful critique group I’m honored to be a part of! There are numerous romance genres and heat levels, plus newly published authors and more experienced ones. Browse through the authors and discover lots of wonderful new-to-you authors and books. It’s like we brought the library to you.

I’m so happy you stopped by! This is my favorite time of the year! I love cooking almost as much as I love writing. Almost. Writing is definitely my passion, but cooking can be fun sometimes too. I often include cooking scenes in my writing and it is usually the hero that is doing the cooking. Hmm…wonder why that is, lol. Probably because I don’t have the time anymore! And, probably why I started a cooking blog called Romance Recipes…Authors cooking up more than romance. So I can introduce readers to a blog where they can meet new authors, try a new recipe and pick up a new book all in one place! If you’d like to check it out here the link: Romance Recipes:
JenniferLowery_ASEALForChristmas_200pxIn A SEAL for Christmas-the second book in my SEAL Team Alpha series- my hero, Donovan Demarco, gets roped into making his famous Biscotti for a Christmas Eve party. Happy to be home for Christmas he readily agrees-and since he comes from a family of chefs you know they’re good 🙂 So, here’s the recipe for Donovan’s Holiday Biscotti. Enjoy! And keep reading for my GIVEAWAY!!

Donovan’s Holiday Biscotti
2 ¼ c flour
¾ c sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
¾ tsp. nutmeg
6 Tbs. butter, softened
3 eggs
1 tsp. rum extract
1 c dried cherries, chopped

1 c powdered sugar
½ tsp. rum extract
1-2 Tbs. milk
Red and Green Food Coloring to tint the glaze

1) Heat oven to 325 degrees.
2) Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
3) Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg in a large bowl.
4) Add butter; beat on low until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Increase to medium: add eggs and 1 tsp. rum extract and beat until mixed well.
5) Stir in cherries by hand.
6) Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface: knead 10-15 times.
7) Divide dough in half: roll each half into a 14-inch log about 2 inches wide.
8) Bake 20-25 minutes until set. Cool 10 minutes on cooling rack covered with parchment.
9) Reduce oven to 275 degrees.
10) Cut logs into ¾ inch slices and lay, cut side down, on baking sheet.
11) Bake 13 minutes.
12) Turn over: Bake 12-14 minutes more. Remove and cool completely.
13) Make the Glaze: Combine powder sugar, ½ tsp. rum extract and enough milk for desired consistency. Divide in half and tint with food color for desired red and green color. Drizzle over biscotti.

  1. Another fabulous SEAL book from Jennifer Lowery – what a great Christmas present for someone.
Sorry you had so much trouble with the links. 😦 But thanks for hanging in there 🙂

  2. I just finished my amaranth with wild blueberries, pecans & craisens. (It’s my standard breakfast now. Gives me lots of energy. The trick is to boil the amaranth until your house smells of nuttiness. Then it’s not like eating gravel, which oddly, I don’t enjoy. Your book sounds fabulous. Cannot wait to read it!

  3. Hi Jennifer,

I enjoy cooking but very seldom cook anymore as it’s just me. I can make chili from scratch, which I did this past weekend but I don’t go by a recipe. I pick up a can of red kidney beans, 1 can of chili beans and 1 can of kidney beans. Mix together with 1 can of tomato sauce, 1 season package of chili mix. Put on stove on low. Cook hamburger meat with onions (diced), bell pepper (diced) and celery(diced). When fully cooked, drain and put in pot with other mixture. Add a can of Rotel tomatoes & pepper (your choice) and cook on low for at least 30 minutes. Sometimes I may throw in chili sauce or tomotoes seasoned with garlic, onion and seasoning salt. Enjoy!

  4. Sounds yummy but the cover is much more delicious! 🙂 Thanks for sharing, now I’m excited to get the book bundle!

  5. I love food, so picking just one is hard. How about favorite Christmas cookie?
Peanut butter stars or Snicker doodle or sugar cookies…er…I’ll stop, because now I want some cookies. lol

  6. My favorite recipe is super easy!
Take one large glass, fill halfway with ice cubes. Pour two jiggers of Sapphire Gin, fill up with tonic water, then top off with a dash of lime juice. Garnish with lime slice or rind twist.

Drink 2 and enjoy with Donovan’s Holiday Biscotti cookies. 😉

  7. Thank you all for coming out today! I really appreciate the support!
It’s time to draw the winner of one of my books-yay! (drawn by
