Meet the Characters with Bobbi Romans

Bobbi Romans cover Sept.Hello and welcome to my blog for another round of Meet the Characters! Today I am featuring a guest blogger who has graciously agreed to let me do a character interview, which is my favorite kind of interview. Join me in welcoming author, Bobbi Romans, and her characters from Dead Man Rising. It’s a fantastic paranormal romance with wonderful characters so without further ado here is the interview with Damien, the hero from Dead Man Rising.

How did you first meet your writer? I met her through Grace and Damien. They said she was cool with our… uh, secrets.

Did you ever think that your life would end up being in a book? No. When you pretty much live your life in a swamp, you don’t think much outside that. Surviving day to day is the only thing on your mind.

What are your favorite scenes in your book: the action, the dialog or the romance? Your asking a dude that? Really? Hello… the romance of course. I couldn’t wait to get lily…uh, yeah. Maybe not the best chat right now.

Did you have a hard time convincing your author to write any particular scenes for you? Yeah. I wanted to hook-up with Lily from word one. Bobbi was pig headed. Didn’t listen.

Do you infiltrate your writer’s dreams? Hell yeah. Did everything I could think of to get that bia..oh, uh, writer to do what I wanted, when I wanted.

What is your greatest fear? Losing Lily.

What do you wear when you go to sleep? Uh, nothing. Why? You wear shit to sleep in? I want nothing between Lily and I. Not even silk.

What is something no one knows about you? Why do you keep it a secret? And what would happen if everyone found out about it? You’ll have to read the book. I didn’t really know myself until an accident revealed how I’m linked to the Opossum. Seriously, shit blew me away.

What sound or noise do you love? I love the slight squeal Lily makes when she, uh, you know.

What’s your favorite animal? As of now… the Opossum. Little fellows kinda rock.

Blurb :

The Society had come to hurt her.

Planted a bomb.

They failed.

He’d saved her and died doing so. Or so they thought. He’d been buried and mourned over… None knew, he’d only been playing possum.

Though he made no alarming sound or movement, panic roared to life. Between the chill to his body and the color of his skin, along with the sudden sadness filling her, she knew what he was doing…

Leaving her.

“No…oh please, no, no, no.” Her heart twisted painfully as if about to burst. Hospital personnel flooded the room, and her stomach seized as the harsh, rapid words code blue flew around the small area. All the powers she’d been told she possessed and she could do nothing to help Trick since she’d never figured out how to tap into it fully. Even with her limited gift of foresight, she hadn’t been able to stop what fate had set in motion. For the most part, magic only worked when something was already meant to be and sort of sped things along.

B.E.A.R.—short for the laughable, but fierce group who made it their mission to “beat evil’s ass regularly”—stood outside the door, waiting for word on Trick. The well-built twenty-three-year-old would have been their youngest member, well, not counting herself. Trick, her knight in shining armor, had taken shrapnel meant for her, though she’d felt each burn of the hit deep in her heart.

And now lay dying, because of her.

Someone grabbed at her shoulders, urging her to move. She wanted to stay. Trick needed her. Lily slapped away all those do-gooders’ grabby, pulling hands. Biting back the scream of fury and terror welling in her throat, she yelled at Trick, “Come back. Don’t you dare leave me. You swore you’d stay…you promised.”

The softer hands of moments ago, no doubt Grace’s, were replaced by firmer ones, and she was physically pried away from Trick. Damien’s voice soothed words of encouragement as he locked her in his arms and half-carried her near limp body away. The fight fled as rapidly as Trick’s life.

Two nurses raced in, pushing a crash cart. Alarms continued to blare shrill warnings. A nurse already in the room barked out, “Crank the paddles stat!” while yet another yelled, “Clear this room now!”

The armadillo shifter—who was as close to Trick as she was, maybe even more so—pulled her farther away. He pleaded with her to come with him. His pain-filled words penetrated the anguish and horror that muted her hearing. Numbness crept through her as she prayed this wasn’t real and instead was a nightmare she’d awaken from.

“They need room to work and concentrate on Trick. They don’t have time to worry about stumbling around everyone. C’mon, let’s give them the space they need to save him.”

Damien said “save,” but deep in her gut, she acknowledged Trick was leaving. She shot a look down the hallway toward the only other man in her life who had been around to help when needed: Squire, the leader of B.E.A.R, who’d already seen her during some of the darkest moments in her life. Tears burned her eyelids, threatening to spill as she visually pleaded with him to do the impossible. Save Trick.
