My Writing Process

First, thank you to Sharon Hamilton for including me in this huge blog tour. This was started by Laurel Odonnell several weeks ago (You can visit Laurel’s site at www.laurel-odonnell.com) and Sharon was nice enough to tag me so I’m taking a brief break from writing about heroes and heroines to join this fun blog tour. It’s all about the writing process so how can I not! Writing is my dream and I love to share so I hope you have as much reading as I did filling in the 4 questions!

1)        What am I working on?

IJenniferLowery_ASealsSong200 am currently working on Book #2 in my SEAL Team Alpha series. The first book, A SEAL’s Song, was part of the SEALs of Summer Superbundle, a fun and exciting project with nine of the best authors I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I can’t wait to share more hot Navy SEAL’s from Team 5 with you!

2)       How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Well, I hope when you read my books you make that determination for yourself 🙂 But, I hope it’s because of the mixture of action, adventure and romance. And I like to make my characters real, with flaws. SEALs are real men, with exceptional talent and skill. But men, none the less. And I hope to portray that in my books.

3)      Why do I write what I do?

I love Navy SEALs. Have ever since I picked up my first Suzanne Brockmann novel. But, Navy SEALs are so much more than gorgeous, sexy men. They are highly intelligent, incredibly brave, and mentally tough. They go through rigorous training most of us would shudder to think about. They perform tasks we don’t want to know about as we sleep safely in our beds at night. They are men to be admired for all that they sacrifice.

4)       How does your writing process work?

I’m a complete pantser. Much to my OCD side’s annoyance, lol. In life, I’m completely organized, I make lists, my house is always clean, I’m on top of it. But, in writing, I’m a mess, lol. No organization, no outlines, no compass. I start with a character or scene and start writing, letting my characters drive my story. Sometimes I hit walls and have to write myself out. But, I’ve accepted my process. I even have a coffee mug to prove it! LOL.

Next week, (June 4th) you get to visit three more wonderful authors to compare their writing process to mine. They are:

Zoe Yorkwww.zoeyork.com NYT and USA Today Bestselling Author Zoe York lives in London, Ontario, Canada with her young family. She writes modern, sexy, small town contemporary romances. She’s currently chugging Americanos, wiping sticky fingers, and dreaming of heroes in and out of uniform.

D’Ann Lindunhttp://dlindunauthor.blogspot.com/Falling in love with romance novels the summer before sixth grade, D’Ann Lindun never thought about writing one until many years later when she took a how-to class at her local college. She was hooked! She began writing and never looked back. Romance appeals to her because there’s just something so satisfying about writing a book guaranteed to have a happy ending. D’Ann’s particular favorites usually feature cowboys and the women who love them. This is probably because she draws inspiration from the area where she lives, Western Colorado, her husband of twenty-nine years and their daughter. Composites of their small farm, herd of horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland heeler, two ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in her stories!

Kristina KnightKristina Knight Author Home Page Once upon a time, Kristina Knight spent her days running from car crash to fire to meetings with local police–no, she wasn’t a troublemaker, she was a journalist. Her career took her all over the United States, writing about everything from a serial killer’s capture to the National Finals Rodeo. Along the way she found her very own Knight in Shining Cowboy Boots and an abiding love for romance novels. Kristina writes contemporary romance with a smattering of sass, sex and (of course) drama, and she loves hearing from readers. And just like the characters from her favorite books, she’s living her own happily ever after.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the rest of the tour with more fab authors!

  1. I love the dedication of the SEALs. They are truly a unique breed of men and women. I would love to be one but don’t have what it takes. I can’t wait to read more about your books!

  2. Jennifer, even if your writing process seems to contrast with the rest of you, I’d say run with it. It has obviously been working as I love your books! Thanks for the insightful post
