Meet the Characters with Kara Leigh Miller

DeathOfAWaterfall_KaraLeighMiller-300X454Hello and welcome to my blog for another round of Meet the Characters!  Today I am featuring a guest blogger who has graciously agreed to let me do a character interview, which is my favorite kind of interview. Join me in welcoming author, Kara Leigh Miller, and her characters from Death of a Waterfall. It’s a fantastic contemporary romance/new adult with wonderful characters so without further ado here is the interview with Teghan Jacobs, the heroine from Death of a Waterfall.

Teghan Jacobs from Death of a Waterfall

How did you first meet your writer?

Teghan: I met my writer years ago. Donnie and I took up residence in her mind, but we didn’t really talk much. In fact, we just kind of hung out because we knew she wasn’t quite ready to tell our story, but we were always there, lurking, waiting. Eventually, she started to write our story and she was way off. Lol. So, we not-so-gently guided her in the right direction. I’ll admit, I’m a little ticked off by some of the things she put me through. I guess it’s her payback for me harassing her for so many years.

What are your favorite scenes in your book: the action, the dialog or the romance?

Teghan: I’m a twenty year old, college freshman – I loved the romance. I only wish my writer would’ve let me have more of it.

Did you have a hard time convincing your author to write any particular scenes for you?

Teghan: Yeah, the sex. And it’s not because she doesn’t know how or she’s afraid – I’ve been present in her mind when she’s written some of her other stories, and wow! I’m not sure why, but she’s been very reluctant to just let me and Donnie get it on like we’d like to. Knowing my writer, she has something else planned for me. I just don’t know what it is yet.

Do you infiltrate your writer’s dreams?

Teghan: Haha! All the time. I’m really surprised she doesn’t hate me by now.

Would you be interested in a sequel, if your writer was so inclined?

Teghan: Yes! I know my writer has a sequel planned. She’s put me through the paces of a few chapters already. I really wish she’d hurry up and finish it, though, because I’m pretty sure our readers will love what happens next. To my writer, if you’re reading this, please go easy on me this time around. I’m exhausted.

Who was your first boyfriend and what do you like most about them?

Teghan: That would be Alex Anderson. We started dating in the tenth grade and broke up at the end of our senior year because he was going to college and I was going to London for a year. Long distance relationships never work and I really didn’t want to be tied down anyway. He didn’t take it so well. What did I like most about him? Hmm…well, I guess that would be his big heart. He was always so sweet to me and everyone around him.

What do you think your greatest weakness is?

Teghan: I’m a people pleaser to a fault. No matter how hard I try, I can never say no. To my own detriment, I’m always trying to please my father, my friends, my boyfriend. Man, it’s exhausting.

What is something no one knows about you?  Why do you keep it a secret?  And what would happen if everyone found out about it?

Teghan: My father did something horrible, unforgiveable, to me. Donnie knows. I had to tell him, but, what I didn’t tell him, what I don’t even want to admit to myself, is that I’m secretly glad my father did what he did. I feel absolutely rotten even saying that aloud. I’d simply die if anyone ever found out.

What word makes you the happiest?

Teghan: Kumquat. It’s a funny word that always makes me giggle. Too bad it’s not used more frequently.

What turns you on?

Teghan: My boyfriend, Donnie. Whoa, is he sexy. He’s got dark hair, muscular arms, and abs to die for. I really don’t know that much about him – yet – but that only adds to his sexiness. Y’know, the whole mysterious, bad boy persona?

What sound or noise do you love?

Teghan: The sound of a waterfall. I went to Niagara Falls on a family vacation and my dad let me go on The Journey Behind the Falls. The sound of the water was so peaceful. I have CD’s with sounds of waterfalls on it that I listen to when I have trouble falling asleep.

How do you react when people sing “Happy Birthday” to you in a restaurant?

Teghan: I would be so embarrassed. That is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen or heard. By the time you reach a certain age, having “Happy Birthday” sung to you is just plain childish.

What’s your favorite animal?

Teghan: Penguins! They are so cute, and they’re fascinating, too. Did you know that certain types of penguins mate for life? How sweet is that? I wish more men were like that. lol.

Teghan Jacobs didn’t think anything could be worse than learning she’s pregnant by a man she’s been dating less than six months. Boy, was she wrong. Her mother, whose drowning in the river of denial, refuses to take a side on the issue. And her overbearing, manipulative father threatens to disown her and cut her off from her trust fund if she doesn’t have an abortion. Donnie Marks couldn’t be happier. The woman he loves, the woman he fought so hard to be with, is going to have his baby. Life has never been better. But when she shows up in his dorm room, sobbing and heartbroken, he learns the horrible truth of what happened. He vows to get revenge on the man who’s responsible: Teghan’s father.
