Meet the Characters with Robyn Neeley

robyn neely coverHello and welcome to my blog for another round of Meet the Characters!  Today I am featuring a guest blogger who has graciously agreed to let me do a character interview, which is my favorite kind of interview. Join me in welcoming author, Robyn Neeley, and her characters from Destination Wedding. It’s a fantastic contemporary romance with wonderful characters so without further ado here is the interview with Luke and Kate.

How did you first meet your writer?

Kate: “She put me on a direct flight from New York City to Hawaii in turbulent weather. Thanks, Robyn. (rolls eyes) I don’t do well flying and in Chapter One I’m paralyzed in my seat chanting “I do. I do.” I’m wedding planner – the chant calms me down. When that didn’t work, I reached for those tiny bottles of vodka.

She did seat me next to this incredibly sexy man that led to one hot kiss. I am grateful to her for that!”

What are your favorite scenes in your book: the action, the dialog or the romance?

Kate: “I loved the romantic scenes with Luke walking along the beach, our plane rides, the waterfall … Although, he still won’t let me forget about the unfortunate incident that took place in the waterfall. It’s a sore subject. Any scene with my assistant, Miles in it is also sooooo fun! I love that guy.”

Did you have a hard time convincing your author to write any particular scenes for you?

Kate: “Yes, we fought about how I would ultimately find out that Luke was the one who kissed me silly on that original flight to Hawaii and not Drew. I won and I love the scene. Luke and Drew’s fiancée, Lauren, were a little miffed when they learned what I did – okay they were pretty upset, but we’ve all moved past it. I needed to know the truth and it really was the only way.”

Do you like the way the book ended?

Luke: “Wait. Let’s go back to that last question. Did she just say it was the only way? (Shakes head.)

Yes, the ending was perfect! I had no idea it was coming or what Kate was up to. I still tease her about it. As far as happy-ever-afters go, she nailed it.”

Would you be interested in a sequel, if your writer was so inclined?

Luke: “Robyn has already informed all of us that there will be a Holiday Wedding or Shotgun Wedding. It’s a tossup which of the Cannon men will be getting married, but it’s going to be good.

Although, if it’s a shotgun wedding, I really hope it’s not for my dad and her mom.”

Anyways, Kate and I will be there, and no doubt her assistant, Miles, will be planning it—I can’t get rid of that guy!”

What embarrasses you?

Luke: “More like who? My twin brother, Drew, has an uncanny way of embarrassing me. For two men that look exactly a like except for one noticable distinction, we’re complete opposites.”

Blurb:

Wedding planner Kate Ashby’s fear of flying is eased by a sexy stranger and one slow lip lock that rockets her into another obit.

CEO Luke Cannon has just traded seats with his identical twin. Little did he know that an innocent kiss while pretending he was his brother would soon create havoc.

What happens in the air doesn’t stay up there. Once on tropical land, Kate believes that the handsome stranger who gave her the best kiss of her life is now her new client, Drew Cannon, fiancé to the beautiful and wealthy Lauren Kincaid. While Kate struggles with the intense feelings she thinks she has for Drew, Luke discovers Kate’s been hired to plan his brother’s destination wedding. He also realizes the initial sparks they shared 30,000 feet up are now mistakenly aimed at Drew.

Can Luke get Kate to realize that the feelings she has are for him? He’s got forty-eight hours in paradise to try.

  1. so now you’ve got me wondering how she figures out who kissed her. I’m thinking a blind kiss test. Which would explain why the other guy’s girl would not be too happy, nor Luke.

Guess I’ll have to read the book to discover if I’m write. Enjoyed the interview.

  2. Thanks, everyone! And thanks to Jennifer for having Luke, Kate and me on her blog! Liza, you’re so close, so close … Luke is still mad at me for writing that scene in!

  3. Thanks for the spotlight on Robyn’s new book and the character interview – the book sounds really good. I’ll have to add it to my list:\)
